Cost: $100 per person

Date: Wednesday, April 26, 2023

Time: 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm ET

SITUATIONAL AWARENESS: The first step in protecting yourself from violence is to be aware of your surroundings and to recognize signs of potential danger.

DE-ESCALATION TECHNIQUES: When faced with an aggressive or hostile individual, it’s important to remain calm and use effective communication techniques to de-escalate the situation. The InDev ASSIST Technique is a proven approach to de-escalating conflict and aggression.

SELF-PROTECTION STRATEGIES: In some cases, de-escalation may not be possible, and you may need to take steps to protect yourself from violent acts. This may involve physical self-defense techniques or using tools like pepper spray or a personal alarm to deter an attacker.

By learning these key skills, you’ll be better equipped to handle potentially dangerous situations and stay safe while working in public settings.

As a utility worker, you work in public settings with exposure to hostile people and violent acts. Jim Willis, is an expert in physical security and anti-terrorism with a background in the utility industry.

This course is designed to provide you with the skills and knowledge you need to effectively de-escalate interactions with aggressive or hostile individuals, as well as to protect yourself from potentially violent situations.

By learning how to recognize signs of aggression, using effective communication techniques to defuse conflict, and employing self-protection strategies when necessary, you’ll be better equipped to handle challenging situations and stay safe while working in public settings.
