About Train the Trainer

The Train the Virtual Trainer series prepares you for virtual training by providing you with opportunities to train others and be evaluated. You will learn proven training principles and strategies specific to the virtual environment and practice your skills as you become the trainer. Each session will be led by an experienced, certified, sought-after trainer and include live instruction. Due to the highly interactive nature of this program, only the first eight registrants will be accepted.

Optional – iPi Train the Trainer Mastermind
After you complete the iPi Train the Virtual Trainer Series, you’ll have access to the monthly Mastermind. A mastermind is a peer-to-peer mentoring group used to help members solve their problems with input and advice from the other group members. Join fellow trainers in the utility industry for knowledge sharing and best practices to keep your training muscle flexed!

Learning Objectives:

The Train the Virtual Trainer series is a comprehensive program that teaches training with an intense focus on the virtual trainer. Throughout the program, participants will:

  • Apply instructional systems design while creating, conducting, and evaluating training programs
  • Discuss adult learning strategies, classroom management, and training techniques
  • Practice and enhance training skills as you facilitate and critique training

Instructor

David McPeak, CSP, CHST, CIT, CUSP, CSSM, is the Director of Professional Development at the Incident Prevention Institute of UBM. He holds a degree in Information Systems and Operations Management; has multiple certifications and professional designations; and has received numerous awards. David has served on OSHA Partnerships; executive and editorial boards; professional committees; an apprenticeship council, and industry SME panels.

He has extensive experience in utilities, construction, and transportation. His expertise includes leadership; human performance; safety; training; and professional development. He is also an Advanced Certified Practitioner in the areas of DISC, Motivators, Emotional Intelligence, HVP, and Learning Styles.

David loves to spend time with his wife and son and enjoys volunteering for various roles and projects in his church and community. He loves working out, Legos, sports, and plays golf but is not a golfer. He is passionate about personal and professional development for himself and others and believes that intrapersonal and interpersonal skills are the key to success.
